Colorado’s official state Web site has switched from Verity to Google to power its search capability.
The move to Google was announced earlier this month. The state’s Colorado.gov portal is a collaborative effort between the Statewide Internet Portal Authority and Colorado Interactive. Colorado Interactive is a Denver-based subsidiary of NIC, which builds and manages government Web sites and e-government services.
Google’s search engine technology “has proven to be more reliable and accurate with quicker results,” a spokeswoman for Colorado.gov said. NIC offers Google to all 18 of its state portal customers and many of those customers have adopted Google, she added.
