Commerce awards Apogen two contracts

The Commerce Department has awarded Apogen Technologies two contracts collectively worth $5.5 million for Web-based application development and computer programming for the Census Bureau, the company announced today.

Under the first contract, Apogen will provide application programming and maintenance services for the bureau’s Web-based Computer-Assisted Telephone Interview system. WebCATI facilitates the collection and tracking of data from telephone interviews. The system has more than 300 users nationwide at three call centers. The contract is valued at more than $3 million with one base year and eight option years.

Apogen will also provide computer programming support for the bureau’s Address Update and the Demographic Area Address List systems. Using SAS Institute and Oracle applications, Apogen will help the bureau update its inventory of housing units and other information for specific areas of the country, and improve its address list for rural areas. The contract is valued at more than $2.5 million with one base year and eight option years.

“Apogen has been supporting the mission of the U.S. Census Bureau for a number of years, and these awards affirm our long-standing commitment to and understanding of this customer and its important mission,” said Tim Green, group vice president and general manager of Apogen’s Federal Civilian Division, in a statement.

Apogen and the bureau have partnered on more than 30 task orders with seven of the bureau’s directorates since 1999.
