McDonald Bradley names first CTO

Mark Day, formerly chief technology officer at the Environmental Protection Agency, has joined McDonald Bradley, an information technology solutions provider, as the company’s first CTO.

Day will be in charge of creating and implementing the company’s technical strategy for its business units to meet federal IT plans and policy.

“Mark’s addition to our senior management team is essential to our ability to reach our five-year goal,” said Kenneth Bartee, president and chief executive officer of McDonald Bradley, in a statement. “We project to triple our revenue by 2011, and Mark’s long history of strategic IT experience in the public sector will be a factor in steering us toward IT opportunities that mirror our strengths.”

Day has more than 27 years’ experience in managing large organizations. He has worked with political and career officials in the government, Congress and industry.

As the EPA’s CTO since 1999, Day was in charge of the agency’s $180 million Fee for Services IT program and the overall IT infrastructure and cybersecurity. He was also responsible for the acquisition strategy of the EPA’s core IT services.

Before joining the EPA, he was chief information officer at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Environmental Quality.

Day is an adjunct professor of information management in the public administration master’s program at George Mason University.

He is a former board member of the Association for Federal Information Resources Management and a former member of the IT Review Board, where he provided peer reviews of major system initiatives at various agencies for the Office of Management and Budget.
