Professor nominated to head regulatory affairs office

President Bush nominated Susan Dudley to be administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget.

Dudley currently serves as director of the Regulatory Studies Program of the Mercatus Center at George Mason University and as an adjunct professor at the George Mason University Law School, according to a White House personnel announcement on July 31.

Her nomination is pending before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, according to the committee's Web site.

John Graham left the administrator’s position on February. Steve Aitken is now acting as the office’s administrator.

Dudley previously served as deputy chief of the Natural Resources Branch of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs. She was also a financial consultant at the Environmental Protection Agency.

Dudley received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts and her master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs oversees federal regulations and information requirements, and develops policies to improve government statistics and information management.
