Newstrom joins Lee Technologies
The former secretary of technology for Virginia has been named Lee Technologies' president and COO.
Lee Technologies announced that George Newstrom, former secretary of technology in Virginia Gov. Mark Warner’s administration, has joined the company as president and chief operating officer.
Newstrom led the Herndon, Va.-based operations of EDS during his 28-year career at the company, before moving to other technology posts and public service.
In 2004 he was named president and chief executive officer for WiSPER Technologies, which develops solutions for portable electronic records.
“We are poised to expand our leadership position in a growing market, and George is going to help us make that happen,” said John Lee, chairman and chief executive officer at Lee Technologies. He is also chairman of the Northern Virginia Technology Council.
Lee Technologies was founded in 1983 as a distributor of mechanical and electrical support equipment for computer rooms. Today the privately owned company provides a suite of integrated, mission-critical infrastructure solutions to global enterprises and government agencies. The company’s customers include the Defense Department and Northrop Grumman.
