Firm's purchase of Trendsmedia is expected to accelerate its growth and expand its reach in global connectivity issues.
The Yankee Group research firm has acquired Trendsmedia, an integrated media company that serves emerging technology markets.
The acquisition will accelerate the Yankee Group’s growth and expand its reach in global connectivity issues, helping network builders, operators and users navigate revolutionary change, the company said in a statement.
Financial terms of the transaction were not released.
“This is the first acquisition in Yankee Group's history,” Emily Nagle Green, the company’s president and chief executive officer, said in the statement. “Our acquisition of Trendsmedia is based on the two firms’ shared vision for providing enterprises with the highest-quality counsel in connectivity issues.”
According to the Yankee Group, Trendsmedia is a highly profitable firm that provides independently researched media products in emerging technology markets. It also produces WiMAX World, conference and trade shows on wireless broadband.
Trendsmedia founder and President Eliot Weinman has accepted the newly created position of president of the Yankee Group Events and Publishing Division. Weinman also joins the Yankee Group’s Board of Directors.
He will oversee both the Trendsmedia team and its growing schedule of events and activities, and the Yankee Group’s Signature Events group.
“Yankee Group has always demonstrated leadership in the communications industry,” Weinman said. “It is this history coupled with the company’s commitment and the ability to be a leading navigator of the global connectivity revolution that were major influencers to partnering with the Yankee Group team.”
