OPM offers online hiring toolkit
The online resource provides guidance and advice for hiring and keeping talented employees.
In an effort to help federal hiring managers, the Office of Personnel Management has added the Hiring Toolkit to its Web site.
It provides case studies, answers to common questions and hiring guidance tools. It also provides a makeover template, which gives agency officials a step-by-step overview of the entire hiring process.
"At OPM, one of our top priorities is to help federal agencies bring high quality talent on board in a timely manner," said Solly Thomas, acting associate director of OPM's Human Capital Leadership and Merit System Accountability Division. The toolkit, he said in a written statement, "focuses on recruiting talent, retaining talent, developing talent and managing that talent to create a strong workforce."
The toolkit has four main features:
- "Prepare to hire," which establishes the groundwork for the hiring process.
- "Recruit top talent," which gives strategies to attract a wider pool of qualified candidates for jobs.
- "Select the best," which explains how agencies identify the best candidates for a position.
- "Measure success," which explains how to assess the hiring process.
