American Systems names new government services VP

Larry Mendenhall brings more than 20 years of consulting experience to the government IT solutions provider.

Larry Mendenhall has been named vice president and executive director of government consulting services at American Systems, an employee-owned, government information technology solutions provider.

The Chantilly, Va.-based company said Mendenhall will develop a portfolio of professional services that will be available to federal agencies to improve their strategic and IT performance. Additionally, his unit will offer services in strategic planning, IT optimization and business process redesign.

Mendenhall has more than 20 years of consulting experience in developing and implementing management and business process solutions. Before joining American Systems, he was a partner at Coopers and Lybrand, where he co-authored the firm's Summit methodology for IT strategy and infrastructure models. He has also held executive-level positions at Litton/PRC, Oracle and Motorola.

"Larry's extensive knowledge of government consulting and strong background in the government IT arena make him the perfect choice for this position," said William Hoover, president and chief executive officer of American Systems, in the announcement today.

Mendenhall earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Brigham Young University and did graduate work at Carnegie Mellon University.
