The new organization will integrate real-time information solutions and manage the security of global supply chains.
Lockheed Martin has created a new organization, called the Savi Group, that will integrate real-time information solutions and services to manage and improve the security of global supply chains, especially for cargo shipments. According to a Lockheed Martin statement, the Savi Group will link the company’s large government in-transit visibility, cargo security and asset management efforts with Savi Technology’s real-time, radio frequency identification supply chain data collection.Lockheed Martin acquired Savi Technology in June.“This unique combination of capabilities under our Savi Group will accelerate the development of turnkey solutions for our government and commercial customers to make their supply chains more efficient, dynamically responsive and secure,” said Stan Sloane, executive vice president of Lockheed Martin’s Integrated Systems and Solutions branch, in the statement. The Savi Group will be led by Vic Verma, who was previously president and chief executive officer of Savi Technology.Verma said the Savi Group will develop cargo security and mobile asset management solutions for the Homeland Security Department, the Defense Department and other government agencies, ports and terminals operators, and commercial customers.“We will offer customers complete, integrated solutions, including powerful analysis tools that will enhance their situational awareness, security and decision-making in tracking and managing shipments every step along the way as they move through global supply chains from point of origin to destination,” Verma said in the announcement.
