Navy names Robert Carey as new CIO
The former deputy CIO will take over in early 2007 after he returns from active duty in Iraq.
The Navy has selected Robert Carey as its new chief information officer. He will replace Dave Wennergren, who this week took over as deputy assistant secretary of Defense for information management and technology and the Defense Department’s deputy CIO.Carey, a Federal Computer Week Federal 100 award winner this year, previously was the Navy Department’s deputy CIO for policy and integration, where he helped push creation of the Common Access Card for DOD.Carey is currently serving on active duty in Iraq and the Navy said John Lussier, deputy CIO, will serve as acting CIO until Carey returns early next year.
