GSA continues to fill FAS posts
Effective Dec. 24, Gary Feit will be assistant commissioner of the Office of Customer Accounts and Research.
General Services Administration officials continue to fill important posts within the Federal Acquisition Service, announcing Dec. 6 the appointment of Gary Feit as assistant commissioner of the Office of Customer Accounts and Research.Feit is “charged with bringing the new FAS message to our customer base and managing a key initiative in the area of strategic sourcing,” Jim Williams, FAS’ commissioner, said in a memo.Officials have acknowledged that GSA’s customers have gone elsewhere because the agency lost its customer focus. The new GSA leaders are intent on bringing back customers.“The customer is king," Lurita Doan, GSA’s administrator, said in July.Revenue comes most dependably from repeat customers, and the business withers without them, she said. However, the agency’s business relationships have faltered in recent years, leaving GSA with revenue shortfalls.Williams’ memo states that Feit will lead an enterprisewide approach to mending customer relations, especially with targeted customers. The memo does not specify customers.Feit has most recently led GSA’s Project Management Office, which was responsible for creating FAS. For 10 years, he led the Office of Marketing in the Federal Supply Service. He worked as director of the FSS automotive center and assistant regional administrator in the Northeast Region. His appointment is effective Dec. 24.
