EPA awards SRA new Brownfields contract
Under the $40.3 million contract, SRA will provide the agency with technical and analytical support for the contaminated properties cleanup program.
The Environmental Protection Agency has given SRA International a contract to provide technical and analytical support for its contaminated properties cleanup program.
According to an SRA statement today, the contract has an estimated value of $40.3 million in five years, if the agency exercises all options.
The new award follows on a four-year task order that the EPA awarded the company last month for information technology, performance metrics and data analysis.
Under the new contract, SRA will help the EPA’s Office of Brownfields Cleanup and Redevelopment manage the program through industry best practices in technical research and analytical support, training, legislation and policy analysis, program planning, data analysis, and communications and outreach.
Founded in 1995, the Brownfields program helps states, local governments and other community revitalization participants safely clean up and reuse so-called brownfields, property that may have a hazardous substance, pollutant or contaminant present.
“The program has become a nationally recognized model of an innovative and successful public and private partnership,” said Peter Trick, vice president and director of SRA’s Environmental and Organizational Services. “The SRA team’s expertise in combining environmental protection with economic development enables us to help EPA and its stakeholders return even more brownfields back to productive, sustainable reuse.”
