Nguyen becomes deputy assistant secretary at Treasury

Mina Nguyen has been appointed deputy assistant secretary for business affairs and public liaison at the Treasury Department.

In this position, Nguyen will manage the department's outreach to the business, advocacy and financial communities. She will advise Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and other agency leaders on economic and international issues; solicit information, analysis and opinions from public and private organizations representing business and consumer interests; and communicate Treasury and the Bush administration's views to these organizations.

Prior to this appointment, Nguyen was director of government affairs for the Republican National Committee. Previously, she was the national business and the northeast regional coalitions director for the Bush/Cheney 2004 campaign. Before that, she was director of public liaison and special assistant to Labor Secretary Elaine Chao.
