CyberShift software will help N.C. city manage employees
High Point, N.C., will use time-and-attendance software.
The city of High Point, N.C., has selected time-and-attendance software from CyberShift to manage its 1,500-employee workforce. The city will use CyberShift’s Workforce Management 3G software suite, which includes workforce scheduling and time-and-attendance components. The scheduling solution automates functions such as shift scheduling, absence scheduling and overtime forecasting. The solution automates pay, work and accrual rules. It also supports Fair Labor Standards Act calculations and Family Medical Leave Act compliance, said Robert Farina, CyberShift’s chief executive officer. Workforce Management 3G is based on a service-oriented architecture that uses Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) standards. Public-sector customers account for about 10 percent of CyberShift’s overall revenue, Farina said. He said public-sector revenue is expected to grow. In a statement, Tom Spencer, High Point’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) manager, said the workforce management solution “needed to be flexible enough to integrate with our [human resources] and payroll systems.” Farina said Workforce Management 3G’s open architecture allows it integrate with virtually any HR or payroll system. He noted that CyberShift customers generally use HR and payroll systems from ERP vendors such as Oracle/PeopleSoft and SAP. Customers also use service bureau solutions from companies such as ADP and Ceridian, he added. Integration with other applications occurs through real-time application programming interfaces, Web services, or traditional formatted batch or near real-time interfaces, Farina said.
