Deloitte board approves executive nominations

The Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Board has approved the nomination of James Quigley as the next global chief executive officer of Deloitte, the board announced today. His nomination is now subject to a vote by member firm partners worldwide.

The approval of John Connolly as the new chairman of the board of Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu was also announced today. He will succeed Piet Hoogendoorn, who has been chairman since June 2000. Hoogendoorn's term ends May 31.

Once all processes are finalized when the election process finishes next month, Quigley and Connolly would start their new roles June 1. Quigley is currently chief executive officer of Deloitte and Touche USA, and would take on the global CEO position in a full-time capacity. Connolly is chief executive and senior partner of Deloitte UK and would maintain these positions within the UK firm.

Quigley succeeds William Parrett, whose term also ends May 31. Parrett will continue as a senior partner at Deloitte until his retirement in May 2008.
