Government wants to make time off a mouse click away

The government is considering shifting to the Web the process of requesting and approving employee time off, according to a request for information.It is seeking information on a Web-based time-and-attendance program for federal employees, according to the notice on the Federal Business Opportunities Web site.The system should allow employees to request and supervisors to approve time off electronically. It should then notify the employee electronically, according to the notice.The General Services Administration, which issued the RFI March 23, wants the program to produce reports for managers to review and allow employees to view time and labor reports by tracking an employee's time off.The program should work with different data collection devices, including those that are Web-based, mobile, biometric, and use interactive voice response, according to the notice.Responses to the RFI are due March 29.
