Interior's business center, OPM to host e-data warehouse
The move will help provide redundant recovery in the case of an attack or disaster.
The Interior Department’s National Business Center and the Office of Personnel Management have joined to host the data warehouse for OPM’s Electronic Human Resources Initiative (EHRI).EHRI is an e-government initiative intended to form a secure central database of all executive branch personnel information, allow secure online access, and provide analytic tools for human resources personnel. The initiative is supported by electronic Official Personnel Folders (eOPF) that provide paperless personnel files for government employees. The business center signed a memorandum of understanding with OPM to share responsibility for the central data repository. The center currently hosts the eOPF application. The center’s director, Douglas Bougeois, said he was “pleased” with the pact, and noted that OPM could now achieve compliance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 7.That directive requires that all government resources be protected from terrorist attacks. The eOPF system is hosted in Denver while the EHRI Data Warehouse will be hosted in Washington, D.C. This is intended to allow for redundant recovery in the case of an attack or disaster.
