Bush to nominate Nortel chief to National Security Telecom Advisory Committee
President Bush plans to nominate Nortel President and Chief Executive Officer Mike Zafirovski to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.
The committee provides industry-based analysis and recommendations on policy and technical issues related to telecom, information systems, information assurance, infrastructure protection, and other national security and emergency preparedness concerns.
In this capacity, Zafirovski would participate in discussions on policy and technical issues related to telecommunications, critical infrastructure protection, homeland security, and other security concerns.
Zafirovski is a 30-year business veteran with global management experience at Motorola and General Electric. He also serves on Boeing's board of directors and is part of numerous professional, educational and nonprofit business organizations. A native of Macedonia, he received the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2004.
