Coalition board elects Allen president
The Coalition for Government Procurement's Board of Directors elected Executive Vice President Larry Allen to be the new president, effective Aug. 15.
Allen will replace Paul Caggiano, who will be retiring. Caggiano became president of the coalition in 1981. He was also chairman of the board for Washington Management Group (WMG), of which he was president until 2003. Caggiano previously was assistant commissioner for contracts at the General Services Administration and a charter member of the Senior Executive Service. He also held the top administrative position atthe Office of Federal Management Policy.
Allen, a recipient of Federal Computer Week's Federal 100 Award, has been with the coalition for 17 years. Gov. Jim Gilmore appointed him to the Virginia Procurement Assessment Task Force, and Allen is a member of the Federal Contracts Report Advisory Board.
The board, which voted July 11, also elected Bill Gormley, president and chief executive officer of WMG and FedSources Inc., chairman. Gormley has previously been assistant commissioner at the Office of Acquisition in GSA's Federal Supply Service.
