DHS launches online training system

The Homeland Security Department today launched a new online training system to offer its employees around-the-clock access to the agency courses.Named DHScovery, the Web database offers more than 1,900 courses, online books and other tools through an automated system.Course topics include information technology security and procurement. According to the DHScovery system's Frequently Asked Questions Web page, the agency launched the system to 'support [workers'] professional learning and development needs.'The agency also assured employees that personal information would be safe, even though the system is accessible from the outside by way of secure of log-in.'The DHScovery site has been accredited by DHS security officials and uses a secure protocol communication during the log-in process and all your interactions with the site,' the DHScovery FAQ states.The agency based the system on the Office of Personnel Management's GoLearn program.
