Letter: NSPS is a betrayal of government employees

Regarding “DOD adjusts to new pay rules”: The National Security Personnel System is the greatest failure in government service history. In the future, it will serve as a study in why unions are absolutely necessary for fair treatment of workers. Someday when every single aspect of NSPS is repealed and the government puts forth an official apology to all government workers for what it did, new laws will be put into place that will protect civilian employees from future proposed systems that are exactly like NSPS. In the very near future, NSPS will be a study that clearly demonstrates how corrupt and horrible government leaders treated their faithful federal employees.

It will provide tons of evidence that will show that the government never bargained faithfully or negotiated honestly with its union partners or any civil servants whom it asked for suggestions. When the analysis is complete, it will show that this administration was engaged in nothing more than a bully attempt to diminish wages, steal retirements, hoodwink faithful employees and steal from civil service employees. The people who tried to implement this system will be ashamed of what they did and how they broke faith with their fellow employees. I am certain that each and every person who worked on this system will someday confess how he or she was forced to manipulate the most honest GS system in the world.

I have a dream of honest ratings and honest evaluations -- one in which the money paid to me was not stolen from me as my cost-of-living pay. I have a dream of service unfettered by a good old boy system and where years of dedicated service mean something. I have a dream of equal pay for like work across the military. I have a dream of lawsuits that bring the government back to honest partnering with federal servants. I have a dream of serving my country with pride and not suspicion of my bosses’ motives.
