Letter: Time to privatize TSP?

A reader says contributors to the Thrift Savings Plan shouldn’t have their rights curtailed, but they should have to pay fees for frequent trading.

Regarding “Some participants protest new Thrift Savings Plan policy”: Who came up with the idea to “peanut butter spread” trading costs? Everyone should pay for his or her trading costs beyond whatever is agreed to by the shareholders. Private brokerage companies benefit from frequent traders, why doesn't TSP? When was the last shareholder meeting anyway?

It may be time to privatize this fund rather than limit the choices and rights of those who contribute.
