Howard Schmidt has worked in information security for almost 40 years.
(ISC)2’s board of directors has named Howard Schmidt, a certified information systems security professional, security strategist. As such, he will provide commentary on current information security issues and represent the nonprofit organization at events and conferences worldwide.
An (ISC)2 board member since 2004, Schmidt has worked in information security for almost 40 years. He has been special adviser for cyberspace security to the White House and vice chairman of President Bush’s Critical Infrastructure Protection Board, vice president and chief information security officer at eBay, CISO and chief security officer at Microsoft and chief security strategist at the U.S. CERT Partners Program for the Homeland Security Department’s National Cyber Security Division. He is currently the international president of the Information Systems Security Association.
Schmidt will focus on information security workforce issues, educating businesses, governments and the public about the role and nature of the information security profession.
