Letter: Air Force faces less staff members, more work
A reader says that becoming a 'jack of all trades' in the Air Force doesn't lead to promotions.
Regarding “DHS procurement shortages hinder performance contracts”: Yes, we are undermanned and underpaid by the [Defense Department]. Our workloads are high plus Air Force-wide, we are being regionalized and will have to move or quit if not willing to move. I love my job and AF ensures we have proper training to avoid protests, but we must deal with contracts, finance, contract administration, site visits, cost analysis, de-obligations, wide-area workflow issues, etc., [that make] us a jack of all trades but yet promotions are hard to come by.
