Letter: Doan deserved more support from administration
A reader writes about Lurita Doan's positive work ethic and the resistance she faced in Washington's bureaucracy.

Regarding, "Lurita Doan resigns as GSA administrator": After retiring from the military with 36 plus years of active and reserve service, I had the good fortune to be hired into an
IT firm owned by Lurita Doan. Working for her for nearly eight years taught
me new meanings to "sweating the details," integrity in all you do, and
delivering the best product to the customer, on time and within budget.
Lurita Doan was a success then and still is today despite the very
negative politics of personal destruction of Washington strap hangers.
As my son (who also knows her) said upon hearing this: " It is a shame
when an individual with a wealth of business experience attempts to
shift the mind-set of the government mentality and is only met with
resistance and political headwinds. Reducing bureaucracy and its
accompanying waste is a requirement to a more efficient government and
more effective use of the taxpayer dollar. Another reason for term
limits in government [is] to prevent people such as Waxman and their
policies of obstruction that only serves as a barrier to progress for a
more efficient government run by the people".
It's a sad day for public service minded individuals. Lurita was
driven out by bureaucrats and Democrats (Henry Waxman and his ilk),
whose only interests are what serve them best, forget the taxpayers and
the country! I am ashamed of the administration for its lack of full
support for Lurita Doan.
