Letter: Company supports GSA's mentor-protégé program
A reader from BMAR & Associates calls GSA's proposed mentor/protégé program a positive action.
Regarding "GSA proposes mentor/protégé program": BMAR & Associates LLC supports [the General Service Administration's] efforts to stand up a Mentor-Protégé Program. We understand that America thrives on the productivity and effectiveness of small businesses. The mentor-protégé programs provide an avenue for small businesses to link with large or other seasoned small businesses to assist their efforts in becoming more competitive in the federal marketplace. The proposed rule as described in the Federal Register (Vol 73, Number 112, 10 June 2008), appears well-thought out and somewhat similar to the other programs that are currently in existence under the [Small Business Administration] and [the Defense Department].
We believe the GSA's program will be a very positive action that will create a “Win-Win-Win” (Winx3) solution for GSA contracting officers, the prospective mentors (contractors) and the prospective protégés. Only time will tell how effective and well received the program will be, but it has the potential to be of great value to all concerned.
