Also in the news: DOD keeps retirees busy

The Federal Times reports that the Defense Department has found that retired military officers often make good civilian employees.

The Defense Department is increasingly bringing retired military officers back to the department as civilian employees, raising alarm among career civil servants, according to the Federal Times.

In response to their concerns, DOD is developing programs to give career civilians more access to education, training and leadership opportunities. One such initiative, scheduled to begin in February, is the Defense Senior Leader Development Program, which will provide leadership training to mid-level employees, the Federal Times reports.
