Congressional committees have approved a $1.3 billion shift in the Defense Department's 2008 budget to pay for urgently needed resources for Iraq and Afghanistan, Defense News reports.


The money will go for a range of manned and unmanned “eye in the sky” vehicles and other intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment, and will weigh against future Army procurement programs, according to Defense News.
