PC World reports that the Los Angeles Fire Department now enables citizens to receive information about fires and other emergencies through the social -networking technology known as Twitter.
Twitter, often referred to as micro-blogging technology, makes it possible to post and distribute short entries. The fire department is using the technology to post information about emergencies and to send the entries to users' mobile devices, according to PC World.
