PC World reports that approximately 40 percent of the Air Force's workforce are registered to access blogs, wikis and other tools available through Air Force Knowledge Now Web site.

The Defense Department may have doubts about military personnel using such things as blogs on the open Web, but Web 2.0 tools are apparently flourishing on the DOD’s own Intranet, according to PC World.


People from all services are using blogs, wikis and other tools provided on the Air Force Knowledge Now (AFKN) protected web site to communicate and collaborate with each other. An AFKN executive says nearly 40 percent of the Air Force’s 600,000 workforce are registered users and 5,000 more a month are signing on, 10 percent of those from outside the Air Force, PC World reports.
