Maj. Gen. Pollett nominated to be DISA chief
Pollett is currently serving as chief of staff for U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base in Nebraska.
Army Maj. Gen. Carroll Pollett has been nominated for the directorship of the Defense Information Systems Agency, and command of Joint Task Force – Global Network Operations. Carroll has also been nominated for promotion to lieutenant general.
Pollett is currently serving as chief of staff for U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., a position he was assigned to in December 2007. Pollett is no stranger to DISA – he served as principal director of operations at the agency in 2003. Previous to assignment to STRATCOM, Pollett was the Army's chief network operator as commanding general of the United States Army Network Enterprise Technology Command/9th Signal Command.
If approved, Pollett will step into the position that had been left vacant by the retirement of Air Force Lt. Gen. Charles Croom on July 22. Navy Rear Adm. Elizabeth Hight, DISA's vice director, has been serving as acting director and acting JTF-GNO commander since then; her own nomination for the DISA directorship was withdrawn in June.
