A reader writes to say he's had difficulties with external certificate authority on Department of Defense sites.
Regarding "Contractors prep interoperable identity management systems"
Hopefully, this will work better than the Defense Department's PKI External Certificate Authority (ECA) program. Since the migration to 2048-bit certificates — required by DOD policy since June 30, 2008 — I've had numerous problems with certain DOD sites, especially AKO, not trusting the new certificate authorities.
