FCW Insider: What Obama can learn from Shaq about Twitter

The Municipalist blogger ("Where government and Web 2.0 collide") has an entertaining post about the potential of Twitter as a presidential platform.

Twitter -- a service that enables users to create post short entries online via PCs or handheld systems -- is the next logical step for a president-elect who has already embraced video, the blogger writes.

In fact, he says, Barack Obama's videos are "self-aggrandizing," which is not what people are looking for in their new president.

Twitter, on the other hand, would let Obama's real voice come through. A case in point is basketball great Shaquille O'Neal, whose "tweets" he finds informative and entertaining. A sample grab: 

"At the barber shop, gotta b sexy for the game tomorro. Us supermodels always have to stay fine, lol"

The Municipalist believes that

The public wants Obama to stay in touch and accessible. Twitter would make that possible, he writes.

"Could Obama do this? Is it even possible? Certainly it is. We have to make it possible. What kind of democracy is this if the president is literally afraid to ... tweet?"
