FCW Insider: U.K. task force urges 'information stimulus'

A task force recently delivered a beta version of its report on how the United Kingdom could make greater use of all the digital information in government systems. The group took their cue from a comment made by then-Prime Minister Tony Blair in 2007: "Public information does not belong to Government, it belongs to the public on whose behalf government is conducted."

The report recommends 25 steps the government could take to make the appropriate data available for reuse throughout the public and private sectors. "Digital Britain would receive an information stimulus if the Taskforce’s recommendations on liberalising non personal government information are followed through," the report states.
