While working for an e-government line of business, Sankaran directed the launch of the National Health Information Network Connect Gateway. As an open-source, standards-based interface to NHIN, the gateway will offer federal agencies and other organizations a more cost-effective means for accessing health care information.
Sankaran helped lay the foundation for the transformation of the U.S. health care system. Because information technology is needed to make health care more efficient, efforts must start with greater interoperability among existing systems.
“With the sustainability of health care being one of the biggest issues impacting the U.S., the importance of Vish’s efforts cannot be overstated,” said Larry Albert, president of Agilex Technologies’ health care sector.
