Working with senior government officials and leaders of TechAmerica’s member companies, Bond led a sustained initiative in 2009 to improve government and industry’s partnership in innovation. Under his leadership, the American Electronics Association, Information Technology Association of America, Government Electronics & IT Association and Cyber Security Industry Alliance merged to form TechAmerica, the industry’s largest trade association.

“Phil has been a tireless advocate for a stronger partnership between the public and private sectors as we move government into the world of Web 2.0 and strive to protect our interests at home, abroad and in cyberspace,” said Hank Steininger, chairman of TechAmerica's board of directors and managing partner of Grant Thornton's Global Public Sector practice. “In TechAmerica, Phil has helped to create a single point of contact in the industry for government to cooperate with us on these and many other issues.”

Bond was undersecretary of Commerce for technology and chief of staff to former Commerce Secretary Donald Evans during the George W. Bush administration. He also has helped Congress and various presidential administrations chart a course aimed at bringing Web 2.0 to government.
