Yosef Lehrman: Keeping tabs on law enforcement's critical networks

Nominated for: Leading the design and implementation of a system that monitors the performance of more than 300 servers that support the operations of all NYPD precincts, the Counter-Terrorism Division, the Real Time Crime Center and other critical units. The system was completed ahead of schedule and under budget. Lehrman also came up with the idea of assembling a dedicated operations response team, which uses the system to identify and respond quickly to outages or other potential problems.

First IT mentor: Lt. Anthony Gazis, special projects coordinator of the Management Information Systems Division at NYPD, has been very supportive and helpful to me during many projects. His office is always open to me for advice and insight, whether on technical or nontechnical matters. His perspective and analysis have proven invaluable and have helped my career immensely.

Latest accomplishment on the job: Implementing and enforcing identity management standards.

Career highlight: Completing the implementation of an operations management framework, including applications, systems and personnel.
