Holly Elwood is a rising star in the movement toward green IT procurement. She helped create the world’s largest rating system for sustainable electronics — the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) — and she coordinates the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ green electronic standards through her leadership of influential working groups.

She is helping expand standards work by co-managing the development of standards for imaging equipment and televisions, with work on standards for servers to start in the near future. In 2010, she helped launch new efforts to focus on improving energy efficiency and reducing toxic content and other environmental goals in servers.

And her impact reaches beyond the United States to purchasers and manufacturers in more than 41 countries who are procuring or building products in conformance with the IEEE 1680 family of standards, including China and the European Union.
