Federal 100: Keith D. Thurston
Keith D. Thurston
Assistant Associate Administrator
General Services Administration
Given his already considerable job responsibilities, Keith Thurston could easily have said he was too busy to absorb the expansion of the e-government agenda in 2010. But instead, he took the lead on several major projects and worked long hours to ensure their success.
His projects included Data.gov, Performance.gov, the redesign of CIO.gov and significant functional expansion of the IT Dashboard, among others. His efforts have been essential to implementing laws and presidential directives. Furthermore, he developed many of the projects on a centralized basis to ease the burden on other agencies.
"Keith is a magic man who operates behind the scene and the limelight,” said Dave McClure, associate administrator of citizen services and innovative technologies at GSA. “He is the ultimate definition of the ‘go-to guy.’”
