GSA's Davie to lead technology council

Mary Davie, a leader at the General Services Administration in promoting innovations across the government, was elected the executive president of the American Council for Technology, the group announced on May 16.

Davie is the assistant Federal Acquisition Service commissioner for Integrated Technology Service at GSA.

Darren Ash was elected the executive vice president of ACT. Ash is the deputy executive director for corporate management in the Executive Director’s Office of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Davie’s and Ash’s positions at ACT are part of the newly created ACT Executive Committee, which will replace the current ACT Board of Directors.

The revamped structure also includes a Senior Government Advisory Council, comprised of 10 high ranking government officials. Those 10 officials will span a breadth of federal functions, such as CIOs, CAOs and program executive officers. The advisory council will advise the ACT Executive Committee on issues facing government and on how ACT, and its affiliate, the Industry Advisory Council, can improve collaboration between agencies and industry.

Davie has pushed for government and industry collaboration for many years, having a large following on Twitter and launching the Acquisition 2.0 group on GovLoop. In a speech in April before a government-industry innovations conference, she said some people think social media is merely for playing games and socializing.

“But for me, with tools such as GovLoop, Twitter and LinkedIn, I connect with people with expertise that I otherwise would not have known,” she said.
