Telework: An untapped recruiting tool

As federal agencies compete for the best recruits, telework can be an attractive lure.

As workers increasingly look to the federal government as a favorable employment option, agencies are more competitive for the top talent and use incentives such as telework to snag recruits, reports Government Executive.

Telework is “an area where competitiveness matters. This is where we’re all headed, and people who get there first are going to be more attractive employers,” Justin Johnson, deputy chief of staff at the Office of Personnel Management, said at a recent telework town hall meeting, the article said.

Telework is a powerful recruiting tool in the private sector because firms who mention telework options in employment ads are able to choose from a larger and more skilled pool of candidates, the article said.
