Senate confirms Ash Carter as next deputy defense secretary.
Ash Carter, the undersecretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics, has been confirmed as the new deputy defense secretary, fedscoop reports.
The appointment was confirmed unanimously by the Senate on Sept. 23, the article states.
Carter, who was heralded by Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, as already being "an essential part of my team" will replace Bill Lynn, who is stepping down.
