A new telework debate is brewing in California over trust. The state started one of the early government telework programs in the mid-‘80s, reports the Sacramento Bee.
A debate about accountability started during the “Work Anywhere Symposium” on Sept. 22 in Sacramento where 40 experts talked about the benefits and concerns of telework among state workers, the article said.
Some experts said employees working from home are happier, more productive and cost less, but asked if managers can be trusted to keep teleworkers accountable? Another concern was: where is the line between monitoring an employee and doing actual surveillance?
