iPads let Oregon voters skip trip to the polls

Some disabled voters in Oregon were able to use iPads to select their candidates in the election Nov. 8. But as Politico reports, the pilot program falls considerably short of voting by iPad.

Election workers took the iPads to the voters who needed assistance, reports Mackenzie Weinger. The voters could select their favored candidate on the screen and then print out their completed ballot, but then they have to mail it in to have it counted.

Oregon officials tested other tablets using Android and Microsoft tablet operating systems, but deemed the iPad to be the easiest to use, Weinger reports. They also say they plan to expand the program in coming elections.
