The impact: Under Darrow’s leadership, 13 data centers have already been closed, for a projected savings of $1.4 billion from fiscal 2013 to 2017.

The nuts and bolts: Darrow oversaw the implementation of the Federal Data Center Consolidation Initiative across the Navy Department — an effort of unprecedented magnitude and complexity. He is also helping to redefine the Navy’s Web portal requirements and identify duplicative efforts, excess capacity and cost-saving opportunities.
