HHS CTO to succeed Aneesh Chopra in White House position.
Todd Park, CTO of the Health and Human Services Department, has been appointed the new U.S. CTO, replacing Aneesh Chopra who recently returned to the private industry.
The announcement was made on the White House blog March 9 by John Holdren, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
Park joined HHS in 2009 after a career in the private sector. He co-founded Athenahealth in 1997, and prior to that, served as a consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton. He has also served as a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress, where he focused on health IT and health reform policy.
Chopra was one of many who took to Twitter to congratulate Park on his new position, calling his successor an “outstanding pick.”
“@whitehouse announces @todd_park will be our next CTO! I've got a tear in my eye," Chopra tweeted.
