DISA honors excellence in acquisition
DISA team gets credit for replacing expiring contracts with up-to-date contracts that match agency telecommunications contracting needs with Defense Department policy.
The Defense Information Systems Agency has awarded its Diann McCoy Award for Excellence in Acquisition during a ceremony at DISA headquarters in Fort Meade, Md.
Named after the agency’s first-ever component acquisition executive, the yearly award recognizes individuals or teams that have made significant contributions in the acquisition process and significantly advanced DISA's overall mission.
At the March 29 ceremony, McCoy presented the award to the Global Information Grid Services Management Acquisition team for spearheading DISA’s efforts to replace current expiring contracts with modern, performance-based ones to provide services to operate, protect and maintain information networks.
Jim Travis, chief of the DISN Program Office in the DISA Network Services Directorate, accepted the award on behalf of the entire Network Services, Operations Directorate, and Procurement and Logistics Directorate Team that collaborated on the initiative.
McCoy spent 36 years in the federal government, with a decade-long stint at DISA. She also served in senior-level positions at the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Air Force. After retiring from the public sector, McCoy joined Suss Consulting as a principal consultant.
