Another GSA official resigns over spending scandal

The General Services Administration's spending scandal has claimed another victim. Paul Prouty, commissioner of the Public Buildings Service Region 8 office, based in Denver, has resigned, GovExec reports.

Prouty had been suspended in April, after an Inspector General's report detailed excessive spending at the Western Regions Conference, held in Las Vegas in 2010. That report led to the resignation of former GSA Administrator Martha Johnson. Since then, Acting Administrator Dan Tangherlini has been conducting a “top-to-bottom review” of GSA spending while IG Brian Miller continues to investigate.
