GSA CIO to co-chair Heroines in Technology Awards Gala
The annual gala honors women in the technology community for their dedication to community service.
General Services Administration CIO Casey Coleman has been named one of the co-chairs for the 12th Annual Heroines in Technology Awards gala.
The event will honor the contributions of women from the Washington, D.C. metro area in the technology sector who exemplify leadership in volunteer community service, according to an Aug. 13 announcement from March of Dimes and AFCEA NOVA.
“The awards gala has gained tremendous momentum in its 12 year history and is now recognized as one of area’s most rewarding events with supporters from all levels of industry and government,” said Coleman, who will co-chair alongside Sabret Flocos, founding partner of Fox Architects.
Coleman headed the GSA Office of Citizen Services from June 2002 through July 2004. In the following years, she took on roles as GSA Federal Technology Service CIO and in 2006, as CIO for the Federal Acquisition Service. She was appointed GSA CIO in 2007, after serving briefly as acting CIO.
Coleman is active in the federal IT community and was the 2009-2010 president of the Association for Federal Information Resources Management. She’s also one of the winners of FCW’s 2012 Federal 100 awards.
The 2012 Heroines in Technology finalists will be recognized Nov. 9, 2012, at the black-tie event held at the Hilton McLean Tysons Corner. The winners will be announced the same evening.
