Federal chief information officer Steven VanRoekel is taking over the duties as head of the management team at the Office of Management and Budget temporarily while a permanent replacement is sought, according to an agency spokesperson.
VanRoekel will fill for Jeffrey Zients, who stepped down in early May , until a deputy director for management is confirmed. He'll remain CIO and administrator for the Office for E-Government while performing these interim duties, OMB spokesperson Ari Issacman Astles told FCW.
Relatedly, the duties of controller, vacated by the move of Danny Werfel to head the Internal Revenue Service, will be handled on an interim basis by deputy controller Norman Dong.
